This pan heats well, is sturdy and well-contructed, and has a nice steam-hole in the lid, so it doubles several times over, as a stove-top casserole, steamer, wok and frying pan (sort-of). Beware, the thing is BIG - measure the rings on your cooker first - or it may not cook around the edges. If like me you're a perfectionist, and want everything browned (as sauteed food is supposed to be) - you cook ONE layer deep, and may need therefore a pan this big, or two smaller ones. Planning/forethought is needed.
If you want to saute food (make it brown and delicious, and not too soft), leave the lid off. If you want to soften it (steam, fry maybe), you can leave the lid on. Beware - you don't want soggy sauteed potatoes or bacon pieces - lid OFF. Lol.
Overall, an excellent product, but the reviewer who mentioned the uneven surface may not be completely wrong. Make sure your cooker ring is FLAT before you buy, or you may have trouble cooking in this, as it needs a HIGH HEAT all around to brown food and cook it quickly. That is what sauteeing is. Otherwise food may be brown in the middle and pale around the edges of the pan.
P.S. When you find caramelised juices at the bottom of the pan, you can make them the base of a sauce - for example, add Boursin cheese (herbs and garlic) and single cream. Heat through GENTLY.
P.P.S. This is NOT Judge Vista, but Judge Taurus! Not the quality of appearance of Vista (in my opinion), although excellent, and also with 25-year guarantee.
